Ranking All The Best Katarina Skins | League of Legends

In League of Legends, Katarina is a mage assassin, meaning she deals a heavy burst of magic damage. She is a strong Mid Laner once given a lead. She is extremely mobile and hard to catch if being played by the right hands. Her ultimate is the scariest part of her kit, once it is activated she spins at an insane speed and constantly throws daggers at enemies within her range.

The sinister blade – Katarina, is a member of the Du Couteau Noxian family. A trained assassin with flashy moves and sharp daggers. She is best known for her whirlwind technique where she absolutely annihilates all her enemies, or perhaps overkill a single target. Katarina is Cassieopia’s eldest sister, alongside the adopted brother Talon.

She has found herself rivaling Talon on many occasions, and for that reason, she pushes herself beyond her limit during missions. No matter what she will execute the target. However, all of that was the case until she met Garen, a Demacian Royal Guard. During the conflict between Noxus and Demacia, Katarina and Garen were fated to fall in love.

1. Battle Queen Katarina

  • Released: December 10th, 2020
  • Price: 1820 RP

Although it was the second Katarina skin in the same year, Riot didn’t hold back. Tons of new animations and new particles were added to this Legendary skin! Katarina has beautiful long violet hair, with bangs covering her left eye. She is dressed in a fancy dark pink dress. Her blades are buffed up! They are much bigger now, and their purple hilts are crafted with luxury. Every basic attack unleashes a purple neon-like light.

Her Q throws her purple dagger and bounces at multiple enemies before landing on the ground, symmetrical shapes underneath it can be seen as special auras. Her W tosses her dagger above her head, once she picks it up she whirlwinds in a majestic way.

Her E dashes her to a target, a momentarily purple trail can be seen behind her. Katarina starts spinning with her ultimate, a large radius of a huge purple flower indicates the range, during that time she throws her daggers at all present enemies.

2. Battle Academia Katarina

  • Released: May 15th, 2019
  • Price: 1350 RP

The fearsome assassin has somewhat become cute in her Battle Academia uniform. Her long hair has turned pink, and her uniform tie was chosen to be dark pink as well to match the aesthetics. Her daggers are wide from the hilt but extremely narrow at the tip, made from tough metal ores. Her sprinting animation makes her study from a book as if she is in a hurry for a class. Basic attacks result in black and purple slashing effects.

Her flying daggers from her Q are causing purple particles until they land, showing Katarina’s Battle Academia icon on the ground.  Her passive whirlwind has nice colorful swings at the edges, more simple and clear than fancy and transparent.

Her E is so instantaneous it is very hard to notice the effects, but that isn’t a bad thing! Finally, her ultimate makes her spin and throw her daggers in all directions. The circle around her is filled with dark-purple wind, and Katarina’s speedy movement is represented in a flashy anime style.

3. Death Sworn Katarina

  • Released: October 25th, 2017
  • Price: 1350 RP

An actual good legacy skin? Katarina got that! Death Sworn Katarina changes her voice to make her sound like she came from the spirit realms. Her long blue-glowing hair can be seen constantly floating. Her short daggers are bright blue. Every time Katarina gets a takedown, the bright colors on her body turn even brighter into RGB colors, only for a few seconds though. Katarina’s Q ability throws a dagger, leaving a dark simple trail before landing.

Her whirlwind radius is shown in a blue misty fashion. Her E almost looks like a blink if it wasn’t for the very thin line that follows from her initial point. Her Ultimate channels her few seconds where Katarina rapidly throws daggers at multiple enemies! The atmosphere coming is somewhat ghosty or unholy. The particles and effects exist, but they aren’t as fancy. However, the character model is a chef kiss.

4. Project Katarina

  • Released: August 1st, 2016
  • Price: 1350 RP

Designed by a secret organization and experimented on, only for their test subject to escape and rebel against them, she is Project Katarina. A fancy long hair, a dark pink mask covering her eyes, a black robotic suit and shiny colorful daggers. She looks absolutely cool and badass. The sounds of the attacks have been changed to match the theme of the Project skin line. Echoey, digital and robotic sounds are put in place.

Her basic attacks create a red image on impact with the target. The trail of her thrown daggers is the same flying transparent images coming from her basic attacks. The landed dagger will have an aura inspired by modern technology that is constantly rotating around it, asking to be picked. Katarina’s whirlwind creates dark effects of black and red colors.

Her R, which is named Death Lotus, looks much different than her previous skins. In the beginning, multiple lines will be sent from Katarina’s location to detect all targets in the area. Then, Katarina will shoot laser beams at any entity caught inside her attack.

5. Blood Moon Katarina

  • Released: February 20th, 2020
  • Price: 1350 RP

Blood Moon Katarina is a wonderful addition to the skin line that is well-made by Riot. Starting with her eyes, she has white eye colors and a sharp black pupil, but her overall eye is dark-pink. Her skin is pale, leaning towards violet, to make it seem as if she is undead. A long white hair with spiky ends. Her daggers have long black hilts, and the blades are similar to the game’s Dusk Blade. Her basic attacks create ink-colored mists.

Her Q throws her dagger to create red and blue particles. Similarly, her whirlwind also creates red and blue slashes, almost identical to Yone’s abilities. The dagger left on the ground has a blood moon mark underneath it.

Blood Moon’s R makes Katarina enter a demonic state where she rapidly spins and shoots red and blue bolts at nearby targets. All while channeling the power of the Blood Moon underneath her feet.

6. Warring Kingdoms Katarina

  • Released: February 10th, 2015
  • Price: 975 RP

Katarina is celebrating festivals in her own manner. Her red hair is dyed black at the top. She is wearing heavy makeup and eyeshadows. Her legs are covered with black skin-tight pants. Her basic attacks leave behind the blood of her enemies, but her throwing daggers leaves beautiful small flowers scattered around. The dagger that is engraved in the ground creates an aura around it as if it was gently floating on a water surface.

Katarina’s whirlwind is a simple red instantaneous slash. However, her ultimate is the best part of her kit with this skin. She starts tossing her white-silvered daggers at all her surrounding targets. The upper side of her ultimate’s radius has images of clouds, while the upper part has images of grass and a big red rose.

7. Slay Belle Katarina

  • Released: December 14th, 2012
  • Price: 975 RP

Katarina is ready to celebrate the winter holidays! She has arrived dressed in a female Santa Claus outfit. Her hair is ginger and her eyes are green, but it isn’t just that! She is also wearing thigh-high stockings and cute reindeer horns on her head. Her daggers leave behind a green and red trail, to stay within the Christmas theme.

It also makes faint bell noises. Her whirlwind is green colored, showing small light particles to celebrate the festival. Her R starts with Katarina spinning and ‘gifting’ everyone her sharp daggers. The radius of her ultimate has vines with red and green light bulbs attached to it.

8. Kitty Cat Katarina

  • Released: October 19th, 2010
  • Price: 975 RP

Katarina is definitely one of the most gorgeous female characters in League of Legends, but Kitty Cat Katarina absolutely kills it! Supposedly she is in a costume for Halloween, Katarina is wearing a very revealing outfit that consists of white fur, a long white tail, and cat ears. Although it might just show off as an attractive appearance, Kitty cat Katarina keeps her assassin identity with all the brown belts and steel daggers.

White and red are not a bad mix! Her abilities, particles, and effects remain the same as her original, leaving red auras and blinking lights everywhere. For just a costume skin, this one is really not bad!

9. Mercenary Katarina

  • Released: November 20th, 2009
  • Price: 520 RP

This skin remains a favorite of all the original Katarina players. It is fast, quick, and just fits Katarina’s character. Whether it be a mercenary or an assassin, Katarina’s green outfit and silver hair match perfectly! This skin might not have flashy particles or new animations, but it is Katarina’s best cheapest skin. Although this skin would have been better if all the red particles and effects were green, it is still a nice option for any Katarina player.

10. Red Card Katarina

  • Released: June 24th, 2010
  • Price: 975 RP

Similar to Kitty Cat Katarina, this skin also is intended to show off Katarina’s beauty and her attractiveness. Red Card Katarina suits her outgoing personality, being extrovert, bossy and possibly dominant as well. She is wearing a referee shirt and black shorts. In a game or an event where all League champions will use the football skins available for them, they will need a referee, and who’s better than Katarina herself? Her red hair is enough for all of them to be afraid of her red cards.

11. High Command Katarina

  • Released: February 22nd, 2011
  • Price: 750 RP

What if Katarina has climbed up from an Assassin rank to a Noxian commander? That fantasy can come true with High Command Katarina skin. Although the splash art looks very badass, the in-game model is somewhat of a disappointment. The crimson skin pieces on Katarina don’t suit her overall outfit at all, not to say it is actually more revealing in-game than it is in the splash art. So what appeared to be a badass commander was translated into another generic female character in League of Legends.

However! The weapon's model has been changed, they look more rusty and pointy, to speak loud about how long and how frequently Katarina had fought, making her deserve this very rank she is at.

12. Bilgewater Katarina

  • Released: August 29th, 2010
  • Price: 975 RP

Katarina is a pirate! Wearing a captain’s hat, a white top piece and having short saber-like daggers, all finished off with her beautiful black hair make her the perfect pirate. However, if only her abilities' color were shaded more towards black instead of the bright red. Almost nothing in her appearance hints at red, which is why it will feel a little off to play this skin with Katarina. The concept is great! But the skin is outdated. It also has a high price of 975 RP which is so unreasonable.

13. Sandstorm Katarina

  • Released: January 2nd, 2012
  • Price: 975 RP

Katarina is following the journey of her sister, Cassiopeia to study the event of her transformation in Shurima. She is wearing baggy red clothes while revealing quite the skin, as well as a white top with a long scarf to protect herself from the dessert’s heat. Perhaps you will get Aladdin's vibes, but this skin is just wasted potential.

Her ultimate can be made to cause a sandstorm, instead, she is just spinning and throwing daggers the same as in the classic. She also has no recall animation, and the skin is expensive for no reason! Perhaps this skin was one of the best 10 years ago, but now it is not worth getting.
