The objective of my diploma work is to examine the textile design of public spaces from the viewpoint of Finlayson Oy and design an aesthetic, commercially viable and visually lasting collection of mattress cloths that spawns new methods of competition as well. Another, more extensive theme is to reflect on applying concept design and future planning as instruments of textile design. With the help of background information and the assembled material three scenarios of the world in 2015 were created. Based on these scenarios, three visual concepts of the company?s products and their operational environment were born. Furthermore, the concepts were used as the starting-point of designing a pattern collection. The diploma work produces results for the partner company to facilitate product design and it helps my growth as a professional, a designer.

Partner: Familon mattress product group, Finlayson Oy

I am currently working as a freelancer designing product concepts, product families and unique textile patterns, as well as marketing materials for businesses. I also design and make textile art.

I have work experience especially from the design, purchase and sales of interior textile products and product groups. I have a very client-oriented approach to my work, and believe in the power of strategic planning and discussion as part of aesthetic design.
In the future my aim is to create new products for people to promote ecological values, happiness and aesthetics, combining new meanings with old craft traditions, without forgetting the significance of global commerce.
