The coconut chair was designed with the intetion of creating a piece that combined comfort with the freedom of movement. It was inspired by Eero Saarinen's Kiresge Audotorium at MIT which has a triangular shape. Another source of inspiration was the coconut itself, the chair resembles a section of a coconut. The chair is a combination of different elements including molded plastic, foam rubber cushion, chromed steel, leather upholstery and plastic glides.
