This project consists of applying textile technique in the creation process of a piece of furniture.

A textile is an artifact made by weaving, felting, knitting, or crocheting natural or synthetic fibers. The project shows how the creation of furniture is thought through the creation of a textile as the main method of production.

Knitted Thought knits textile and furniture together through their designs, their technologies, and their functions.
The project is besides a co-operation between different fields of design also between designer and producer.

The project is composed of three parts.
Textile=structure, bench and chairs made out of one textile combining metal and wool. Wooden textile, lounge chair and small table made out of rattan. Inspired by textile, shelf, lamp, and low table, laser cut metal.

In co-operation with Marjukka Vuorisalo, textile designer

Other collaborators: Sokeva, Laserle, Esito Oy Lankapalvelu

Alex Estadieu comes from France and he is based in Helsinki working as a product designer. He studied product design for several years in France before moving to Helsinki to complete an MA degree in Applied Art and Design at UIAH. In his work, Alex questions the lifecycle of an object; and believes that at times an object can communicate rather than be made purely for production. His work, product and spatial design, is based on understanding the identity of the request and proposing a new approach adapted to the need of the client.
