My artworks criticize individuals who contributed to the historical and social condition of Haiti ranging from the 15th until the 21st century and who made it what it is today, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
My work consists of four portraits: Conqueror Christopher Columbus, former Haitian Dictators Dr. Francois ?Papa Doc? Duvalier and Jean-Claude ?Baby Doc? Duvalier.
I experienced the act of ?shooting back? concretely and indirectly discovered a way to help and defend the Haitians and my family that suffered. To me shots represent lost human lives accounted perhaps in millions. I urge the viewer to remember the history of Haitians who lost their lives in the time of colonialism and also remember those facing the aftermath.
