The Butterfly Stool was designed under the concept of symmetry. The seat is two joined wings that mirror each other. The stool is made from pressed plywood that has been molded using a technique invented by Charles and Ray Eames. The stool has often been described as a blend of Japanese forms and modern Western materials. Designed in 1954, the stool can now be found in various museums including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The stool is produced by Vitra.
