Experience Music Project

The Experience Music Project building, in Seattle,Washington, was commissioned by Paul Allen. Building began in 1999, and the doors opened shortly after in 2000. Made of a fabricated steel frame and sheet metal panels, the building is modern in design and has sculptural elements. If looked at from a bird's view, the building appears to be composed of different smaller pieces. There are cubist, as well as surrealist elements in the design of the building. The building is dedicated to the late Jimi Hendrix and the Seattle music scene.

Pocket Toshi (prototype)

Pocket Toshi, named after Toshio Iwai, is a prototype of a music application for Nokia N95 made together with Teemu Korpilahti.

It displays chimes/piano on the right side of the screen and percussions on the left. Also an additional gesture sound (code by Marcus Malka) can be found when rapidly moving the phone in the vertical direction. Pocket Toshi is played with a round shaped cursor detecting motion based on values from the phone's accelerometer.

Pocket Toshi can be used with or without headphones. It can also be used as a pocket-size accompanist or for collaborative play in a Pocket Toshi band.
