This printed cotton textile is from July 28, 1884. The print was created through a multistep process. The design itself was inspired by historic textiles and 15th century velvets. The title comes from the river where Morris and Co. was located.

This textile design is printed cotton from 1876. It was produced by Morris and Co., and printed by Thomas Wardle. The design for this textile was based on snakeshead fritillary, which is a plant of the lily family with unusual chequered petals. This particular design was also used a wallpaper.

Pictured here also is a drawing design for the textile.
